This provides a buffer for 550,000 liters of rainwater. Sustainability was central: contractor Van de Kreeke works electrically, and the Aquaflow crushed stone has a very low environmental cost indicator and was transported by ship.  <\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\"335559739\":0}\"> <\/span><\/p><p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Due to the impermeable loess soil<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\"335559739\":0}\"> <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">direct infiltration is not possible. Therefore, the water-retaining foundation is equipped with a waterproof film on the underside, so that the subsoil remains dry and stable. The water is discharged via drilled infiltration poles to deeper, permeable gravel layers.
