Large Water Buffer with Unique Public Space in Utrecht
In the Gaard shopping area in Utrecht, 4500 m2 of public space has been fitted with the pentagonal paving stone. The Aquaflow water-retaining road foundation beneath the square and paths near the shops can buffer 650,000 liters of rainwater. The square looks fantastic from a drone. It is not without reason that many architects appreciate the designs with the paving stone so much. The shape and non-directionality give very innovative accents to the public space.
